Current Research

Professor Oishi is interested in the intersection of culture, social ecology, and well-being. He has three lines of current research: (1) Well-being and Policies (e.g., "Can happiness be a policy goal?"), (2) Socio-ecological psychology (e.g., "What are the psychological consequences of income inequality?" "Does living in a densely populated area increase or decrease one's well-being?"), and (3) Psychologically Rich Life (e.g., "What is a good life? A happy life, a meaningful life, or something else?")
