Area of Research

Chris studies how the human brain learns information across scales of time and space—from individual life episodes to implicit knowledge of rich social structures—and the computational principles underlying how these learning systems cooperate.  Before joining the Shohamy Lab, Chris began to study the cognitive neuroscience of learning and memory under Professors Anthony Wagner and Russell Poldrack at Stanford University. He also worked as a death penalty defense investigator, and is interested in leveraging insights from psychology and neuroscience to build more restorative approaches to crime and violence.
