Degree Requirements
Majors and concentrators in Psychology, and majors in Neuroscience & Behavior, should begin planning a program of study as early as possible. One of the most popular majors at Columbia, the Psychology major gives students a foundation in psychological science, research methods, and statistics. Once these foundational courses are completed, students have the opportunity to take courses that cover the wide breadth of the field: perception, cognition, psychobiology, neuroscience, social and personality psychology, and abnormal psychology. In the Spring of their sophomore years, qualified students can apply to the Honors program.

The Psychology Concentration enables students who are pursuing a major in another field to develop expertise in psychological science. The Concentration requires a minimum of 18 credit points. More information on specific requirements can be found here.
The Neuroscience & Behavior Major is co-sponsored by the Departments of Psychology and Biological Sciences. With five required courses in each department, the Neuroscience & Behavior major enables students to develop expertise is biology, neurobiology, and behavioral and cognitive neuroscience.
In the Spring of their sophomore years, qualified students can apply to the Honors program.
