Application & Admission
The Postbac Certificate Program in Psychology is designed for students with little background in psychology and emphasizes appropriate introductory and intermediate-level studies. Those with no psychology knowledge and no experience with scientific research in psychology are sometimes advised to take a course or two, and possibly gain some research experience, before applying to the program. Some of this preparatory work may be credited toward the postbaccalaureate certificate.
Admission to the Postbac Program in Psychology is limited by the capacity of the Department of Psychology to offer research opportunities to post baccalaureate students. Usually 15 to 25 new students are admitted each year.
The program only admits students in the fall. Applicants are urged to submit application materials well in advance of the deadline of May 1st. In order to allow time for the processing of visas, international students should submit their applications for the approaching Fall semester at least 12 weeks before the May 1st deadline.
Applications received after the deadline will be considered for the following spring term on a space-available basis. The application is available online through the School of Professional Studies.
Further information about application materials, visa requirements and admission decisions can be found in the Apply section of the School of Professional Studies’s Psychology Postbac Certificate Program site.
