My research explores how social and cultural contexts shape the trajectory of brain and behavioral development during early childhood. My lab examines development as a dynamic process unfolding between children and the people, places, and systems surrounding them, with the ultimate goal of generating policy-relevant insights that support caregivers and foster healthy, equitable child development across diverse communities.
Drawing on neural, behavioral, physiological, and ecologically grounded approaches, our lab investigates how home environments, caregiver mental health, and parent–child interactions influence the emergence of early cognitive systems. By pairing neural and physiological markers with families' lived experiences, our work seeks to advance developmental theory through research that reflects how brain and behavioral trajectories unfold in real-world contexts.
