Bridget Callaghan, a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Psychology, was recently awarded a Sir Keith Murdoch Fellowship and a 2016 NARSAD Young Investigator Grant.
The Murdoch fellowship is sponsored by the American Australian Association, which each year awards individual fellowships of up to US$40,000 for advanced study in the United States.
NARSAD Young Investigator grants provide support for young scientists conducting neurobiological research. The two-year awards of up to $70,000 enable promising investigators to extend research training or begin careers as independent researchers.
A National Health & Medical Research Council Post-doctoral Fellow in the Developmental Affective Neuroscience Laboratory, Callaghan takes a cross-species approach to examining how early experiences, particularly those of adversity, shape central and peripheral circuits that influence cognitive and emotional development.
