Andrea Nimaroff

Andrea is a postdoctoral research scientist working jointly between the DAN Lab and DCN Lab. She received her Ph.D. in 2023 from Columbia University and her B.A. in 2015 from Johns Hopkins University. Andrea’s research focuses on how children learn from and adapt to their caregivers and caregiving environments. Her graduate work largely focused on these questions in the context of early caregiving adversities, studying how disruptions in caregiving (i.e., caregiver psychopathology, caregiving instability) impact children’s neurobiological and behavioral development. In her postdoc position, Andrea aims to better understand the mechanisms underlying these associations by investigating how parents modulate attention, memory, and learning processes to promote exploration and independence during toddlerhood, one of the most formative periods in the early attachment relationship.
