Cognitive neuroscience of aging.

Current Research

My research has focused on the potential cognitive mechanisms (as opposed to neural substrates) that may underlie neuroprotective and compensatory models such as cognitive reserve. One such mechanism may be the preserved ability to select the best strategy for performing a given cognitive task given certain favorable life experiences, suggestive of a role of crystallized intelligence and knowledge in resisting the adverse effects of normal and pathological aging. I am also interested in exploring potential cognitive interventions that may make use of this potentially knowledge-based moderator.
