Assistant Professor Mariam Aly of the Columbia University Psychology Department will be speaking on September 27th, 2017. Her current research addresses how are percepts transformed to memories, and how do we use memory to guide perception and action? I study the mechanisms by which attention and perception allow us to remember the world around us, and how ? once we have formed those memories ? we can use them to guide our attention, perception, and goal-directed behavior in the future. The Departmental Colloquia are open to the public and take place in Schermerhorn Hall, Room 614 on Wednesdays from 4:10-5:30pm. There will be an informal reception immediately following the talk in the 3rd floor Rotunda area.
