Columbia Psychology Chair, Professor Carl Hart, addresses the so-called opioid crisis in a recent OpEd.

Columbia Psychology Chair/ Professor Carl Hart

"If we want to save lives, we have to change the way we talk about drugs."

This OpEd piece written by Professor Carl Hart addresses "media misrepresentations of drug use and drug problems." Carl Hart discusses medias reporting of the death of A$AP Yams, son of Tatianna Paulino, who had passed away due to an opioid-sedative combination. Professor Hart urges his readers to put "far less emphasis...on hyping the dangers of opioids," and instead focus on taking "the most appropriate steps in keeping people healthy and safe."
