PSYC UN1010 No Longer Offered - Beginning Fall 2018

August 17, 2018

On behalf of the Psychology department, I write to inform you that beginning in Fall 2018, PSYC UN1010 Mind, Brain, & Behavior will no longer be offered. We will instead offer a new course, PSYC UN2430 Cognitive Neuroscience, which will cover most of the same content as UN1010 but at a more appropriately intermediate level. This shift is motivated by feedback from students about the redundancy in introductory content between UN1001 Science of Psychology and UN1010 Mind, Brain, & Behavior.

Students who have already taken PSYC UN1010 may use it to fulfill the group two Psychology requirement (P2. Course in Neuroscience), but, going forward, Neuroscience & Behavior majors must take either PSYC UN2430 Cognitive Neuroscience or PSYC UN2450 Behavioral Neuroscience to fulfill that requirement.

Students who have already taken UN1010 Mind, Brain, & Behavior should not take UN2430 as the content of the courses overlap significantly. If you take UN2450 Behavioral Neuroscience to fulfill the P2 Neuroscience requirement, you are welcome to take UN2430 Cognitive Neuroscience to fulfill the P4 2000-level course or vice versa, but if you have taken UN1010 already, you cannot use UN2430 Cognitive Neuroscience to fulfill the P4 requirement.
